Sometimes things just hit a stalemate. 
 

The VW Caddy I listed impulsively, sold in under an hour for asking price, and I got a serious cash offer of £300 over listed price. 
But I had told the buyer he had 48 hours to get a mate and a ride here from a field in Essex. 
Buyer was a super nice guy too. 
Bonus.

After cutting out the diamond plate the next job was to shape it with the flap disc.

Followed by marking and drilling the waste hole.

Then matched up, bonded together.

Left it alone for 24 hours to cure fully.

Then onto the next phase.

Next stop……. A base.

So the next step was to create a base for this to stand on. 

 

I had planned on something super sexy but it meant finding more old engine parts and people are strange. 

 

So I fetched an old propane tank out back that I had found on the sidewalk a few years ago. 

 

Some cutting, grinding, little bit of swearing and paint. 

 

 

 

I still had not figured out the reservoir for water. 

 

Yet.

I pierced the can below the waterline to release the paint into the pot, instead of above and first releasing pressure followed by draining the paint.

Last part ( Part 5 ) of this hand wash basin build.

It is interesting how much time and resource it actually takes to complete something as simple as this.

Makes me realise why someone would charge £200 for this without batting an eyelid.

Once the basin and stand was complete the job I had not had a solution for actually did come together one evening on the way home from Sally’s house.
Along the way there is a house known as Ivy House for obvious reasons. An absolute knob lives there DAMHIK
Anyway, out on his sidewalk at his 6 foot gate, I saw an old Jerry can laying. Obviously for a scrap collector to pick up. So I turned around and fetched it.
Faded, rusted, clearly not in good health but intact, I planned on using it for the relocated fuel filler neck on my 66 C10 truck as I had a very dented and damaged one, but this was much better.

UNTIL I REALISED IT WOULD BE A GREAT WATER RESERVOIR.

So I fetched it and cleaned it, as per video attached.

 

 

I found an old brass tap in my stash and added it to the Jerry can.

Job done once I cleaned it all some more and filled it with fresh water.

Using some steel shelving on hand to support the water it makes for a perfect tool.

I guess that’s the end of this little build.

Super Random bits of the week. 

 

I got to harvest one incredibly sweet fig from my potted sprout broken off my outside tree thats lived in a pot. 

 

Also took a pic of a “capsule” formed around some glassfibre that I got into my finger when building the Rezin Rockit. 

It has traveled around my middle finger since 2 years ago 

 

So I cut through is with my favourite Opinel pocket knife to try get the bit of offending fiberglass out. 

 

All I have managed repeatedly is a match stick heads worth of super viscous yellow fluid and to release the pressure. 

 

Using a phone torch underneath you can see the capsule. 

 

May have to have it surgically removed one day. 

 

PS.  Yes I do find this sort of thing very interesting. And have done various procedures on myself over the years.

Sunday is Bootfair day. 

Bought this little home made number for £1.00 at a bootfair this morning.

Cleaned it “sympathetically”

Blade is super keen. 

Cleaver time. 


Also got a small grinding clamp for £1.00 from the same seller.


I always look out for buddy @CraigRK for random stuff he needs or likes. 

It does take up a certain amount of time keeping my eyes open for more junk.

Just spent a happy hour or so catching up with thenworld according to Grizz. 

Shame I don't live closer as I'm sure we see a lot of things the same, and it's nice to have like minded folk nearby.

Did you shift the little Puglet in the end?  I wanted to go further on the Berlingo van but it seems it has found a new home with Katy's sister instead. She's only short so it'll make a nice little stealth camper for her.

Seeing how you just get on with things inspired me to go and get on with pulling my old sheds down,  something I have been successfully avoiding for the last week or so.

And you are so right about living closer to likeminded people. 
 

I really am alone and lonely out here. 
Sally may tolerate my reuse and recycling mentality but she lives in her own house 2.3 miles from me. Often saying “more stuff?” Implying junk. 
Then, when it’s all good she is surprised. 
We grew up both poor (relatively) and also with both my parents being farmers children, reuse and repair was normal. 
 

So many people are happy to just replace with new and pay money out. 
 

Got Peugeot on the street for £700 negotiable. Wanting £600

But so weird its not sold.

Moles

Lovely looking, cute, good for the garden. Destructive. 

I like my garden and love thr lawn tidy. 

5 weeks ago I woke up to a moles lifting of my lawn. 

Never had moles since moving in here in 2010. 

In the end I saw him lift the lawn minutes after compacting it all and watering the lawn. 

So I fooded all the tunnels in the garden beds and lawn again after compacting again………

Yup…….. He came back 

So I hit the area with my heel and then dug him out. 

I hate destroying any wildlife as they do so much good but mess with my lawn……..

What I see, experience is what appears to be escalating degeneration of road surfaces.  Council will differ in opinion. 
 

I have been told by some that its not the case.

The whole point of tractors like that is low ground pressure. It should have way less impact on the road than, say, a fuel oil delivery tanker.

I cannot call it a collection of course. It’s just a random bunch of things I like. 

My absolute favourite is actually a Unimog.

So I sold my spare hifi for £60.00

 

Found a replacement display and storage cabinet in Dungeoness 56 miles from here. Had to wait for seller to get back from holiday to get measurements. 

 

It would work. 

 

So yesterday I headed down in the Scenic. 

 

£25.00 cabinet. Bloody nice thing tbh. Much better than expected. 

 

Drove back, unpacked the porch, cleaned up and then unpacked the car. 

 

Tight fit on the alarm keypad and light switches but its in.

Once everything was sorted I tried to pack the junk in some kind of sensible way. 

Bottom shelf is a bit of a Homage to my friend Ray who died a few years ago.

You could use some acrylic risers/ display shelves to help show those cars off.

not expensive for what they are, but increase surface area on your shelving massively.
