Lots of amazing stuff there. your friends stateside really know how to put a car together!

I've got to ask about these wheels though... are they just for rolling a project around the workshop but built with additional flair.... just because?ย ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Inner circles, Random Kindness, Super Surprises.ย

ย

Often things happen to me that I honestly donโ€™t know how or why. But I am always thankful.ย

ย

Yesterday I was really focused on getting the deck and tailgate bench painted. So phones stayed indoors. I also had the doors closed on the deck, so never heard the doorbell.ย

ย

Fortunately my new second room lodger was here, recovering from a hangover and having slept outside in the Astro van, he claims to have no idea how he lost his keys (left in the front door) I believe he is going to be a problem. And you guys can hold off with your advice, I will have to deal with it in my own way. Regardless.ย

ย

Anyway, he received a large postal item.ย

ย

I was not expecting anything, so when I saw it on the table, I initially ignored it, then was going to put it in Pedros room, and realised it was addressed to me.ย

ย

Opened it up and once againโ€ฆโ€ฆ

ย

Kindness, thoughtfulness and respect popped out the envelope.ย

ย

A bunch of stuff, possibly even the sender didnโ€™t realise thr impact of.ย

ย

@Da1sycat ย Bryan was travelling in the USA recently and gathered some stuff for me.ย

He also made some perfectly timed keyrings (all three are already in use on Astro, Oldsmobile, House keys) and unbeknown to him, Spartans have a significant link to my dad, long since departed, but I always associate Spartans with him.ย

He also bought me a Rural King T shirt and again, my favourite shop in the USA. I bought two last year and gave Pedro the best one, and the other that is too small for me, headed in a different direction. ย

ย

Some Stars n Stripes bandanas will probably be headrest covers in the Oldsmobile.ย

ย

Lastly, some more of his artwork. Which of course I really like.ย

ย

The garage sign is too good for the garage, so into my overfull display cabinet.ย

ย

Life is good.ย

ย

Often it just falls in our laps, sometimes we need to open our eyes and see the great stuff around us.ย

Spiders.ย

ย

I do protect them.ย

ย

Pedro brought me some scrap from the work dumpster that had been thrown out.ย

ย

Clever guy, Magpie eyes ever since he realised I like to โ€œ make stuff โ€œ

ย

So I pulled out the last of the used deck screws Mickey brought home years ago.ย

ย

I had made some last year and Dennis and my friend Jody each got one in America. I actually filled Dennisโ€™ with Fireball.ย

ย

You know, emergency supplies.ย

ย

Once completed, it was a toss up between painting them satin black or leaving them alone. โ€œPatinaโ€ is popular these days. I chose the look I preferred.ย

ย

Happy with them.ย

ย

ย

Question for those who have a clue.ย

ย

What would these be priced at or sell for online?? Etsy, EBay Etc.ย

First bootfair of the year today (public holiday in England)ย
I missed out on yesterday because I didnโ€™t remember.ย

Overall I have become disillusioned with them the last few years. Quality of items, sellers, attendees (buyers) and actual seller attendance has gone down.ย

So George came in at 2.30am for breakfast after 36 hours roaming. My night was restless after that. Up at 5.45 and in the bootfair field by 6.15

Took some pics of rules and costs for those who need more information.ย

A few great chats with sellers.ย

Prices have gone up noticeably.ย

Easy exampleโ€ฆโ€ฆ used, tired Hotwheels ยฃ1.00 each, other brands 50p each. There will always be a random seller who does two or even occasionally three for ยฃ1.00ย

I bought a few unusual VW busses and a Chevy truck, Coke truck for Craig. Total ยฃ4.00

Found myself a London bus, a couple of trucks and a Morgan Aero sedan for ยฃ3.50ย

I got Pedro a pair of used ST stainless sill plates for his Fiesta for ยฃ2.00

Skulls 50p each, serving plate ยฃ2.00 Socks ยฃ1.00/pair Barchello chicken 20pย

Last itemsโ€ฆโ€ฆ 5 small metal files at 20p each, so ยฃ1.00 and a very grubby pair of pliers to clean up was 50pย
ยฃ1.50 tool bundleโ€ฆโ€ฆ my reason for liking this way of buying.ย

Came home, YouTube and Pedros jam donuts.ย

Got John around later with his kids.ย

I want to teach his 12 year old daughter how to weld. Maybe a snail as she liked it. ย

Craig got lots of VW stuff including a UNICORN TONKA Beach Buggyย

ย

Any VW aircooled donations [Toys, memorabilia, chrome hubcaps etc] gladly accepted too ย

Some real original made in America pivoting Stilsons, a new vice grip, weird flexible spirit level.ย
ย

At one table another guy bought a cool Split Window Bus cookie tin and I commented that I really liked it. 15 minutes later he came up to me and said I could have it for ยฃ1.00 because his wife hated it. Happy Craig again.ย
ย

And for myself a few super random Hotwheels and other cars. ย A collapsing Wheel brace, 12โ€ shifting spanner, a new wheelbarrow wheel for ยฃ5.00, new ยฃ2.00 kiddie skateboard for old lodger Johns son Louie and lastly a metal sign for 20p for lodger Michael.ย
ย

Nextโ€ฆ.. breakfast and YouTubeย

Wheel brace bought because I had never seen one before.ย

Three weeks after unmasking, clearcoats assumed to be hardened enough for more work.

ย

Ive had a really busy week and finally at 5.30pm on Saturday I completed the wet sanding/colour sanding and polishing compound work on thr paint.

Of course I am not done.

Whereโ€™s the sense in that.

I started with some razor blading work, shaving the runs and some bad clearcoat sagging.

Following that, I block sanded all vertical runs and sags, and also all of the horizontal areas with 1000 grit wet paper. I used about 2ml Fairy liquid dishwashing liquid per 350 ml water in an old Windowlene spray bottle. It prevents clogging of the paper, and enhances the glide of the paper.

Following the 1000 grit I then used 1200 grit and hand sanded down the whole car in a cross hatched pattern. This prevents grooving and waves.

Next up 1500 grit which removed a lot of the scratches from the 1200.

Of course it will leave more scratches. Just muuch finer.

The next day I took my Air DA sander and wet sanded the whole car with 2000 grit foam mops. The difference between 1500 and 2000 is massive if you look at it in good light.

The whole cars texture at this point has gone from very shiny, and lightly textured after the 5-6 coats of clear lacquer to a slightly dull but smooth as glass feel.

This incredibly smooth finish was great to feel.

But there was another step to go.

On Saturday morning I started working with an electric mop with a new dense foam polishing head and Farรฉcla G3 polishing compound and the spray bottle of clean water to constantly lubricate the moo, preventing compound burn down on the paint.

Its an extremely messy job and to be honestโ€ฆโ€ฆ. I was sick of this car by now.

But 5 minutes into starting itโ€ฆโ€ฆ.

ย

BOOOOOOMMM !!!!

ย

What a fantastic finish came out from under that mop.

So I carried on and on and on and onโ€ฆโ€ฆ

Packed tools away and brought the car up to the house.

Knackered.

90 second Video for all the ADHD Sufferers out there.

Take a look.

ย

Of course itโ€™s not done yet.

I drove it around on Sunday for food shopping and just because itโ€™s stood all week.

Next job will be a good, soapy wash to clean off all the residue in grooves and door frames etc.

I ordered another follow on polish product last night.

Hopefully it can be applied with the air DA to remove any further swirl marks and seal in the clear.

ย

I would really love to find one of these products that detailers or high end cleaners use.

Historically I have used Zymรถl polish but look at the price now. Thats expensive if you consider the Farecla polish id only ยฃ12.00 for 500ml.

Exciting day today though.
