Last night I had a lovely sunset as a reward for the day of bashing steel.

Ended up for the first time in my life at the Würth shop. 
 

I could have ordered something off Amazon and paid a delivery charge, waiting as long as it takes, or ordered off Evilbay and had three day free delivery or popped into Euro Carparts (like O’Reileys) and paid £26.00 as advertised online. 
 

So I popped into Würth Shop and paid my price. 
 

I am watching Gibson63 on YouTube right now to see the sequence he does a patch panel and brace before heading out to start my swearfest.

Latest addition to the Bare Metal 66 C10 Restoration dream. 
Added to 3 of the 115mm and a 125mm corded ones plus a pneumatic die grinder and Rollock grinder. All set up differently.
 

I have had an incredible day in the shop today. 
 

Slapping metal. 
 

Hammering steel. 
 

Moving peaks and valleys. 
 

Also cut and removed a brace, cut a replacement brace to size. 
 

More cutting tomorrow and probably some deliberate welding.  
 

Yup……… Feels great.

Yes, all of the insulation gets done once it’s painted.

Aaaahh yes. Don’t take it apart and wait 10 years before starting to rebuild.

Long term long suffering great friend Kevin came around for a visit today. 

 

He had messaged me yesterday to say he would be over. 

 

I forgot…..

 

My toilet cistern flush failed this morning so I went to get a replacement from the plumbing company, I had never opened the cistern since moving here in 2010. And I also got some food. 

 

As I came up my rural road he passed me at 4.30……… Dang !!! I remembered. 

 

He had sent some evidence pictures as well. 

 

He stopped somewhere on his way home 30 miles away for a soda and texted the pics to my sorry ass. I said come back. 

 

He did, so we spent a good hour in my garage. Showing him some tools and processes and my truck progress. 

 

As we shut shop one of my lodgers arrived, bearing gifts. A used fireproof overall and two packs of 10 125mm 1mm cutting discs and 10 80 grit 125mm flap discs. All “expired” 

Well, not in my shop. 

 

Nice.

 

Have I mentioned that Life is good? 

 

 

George still judges me.

I now understand why plumbers rape your wallet and retire at 35. 

 

I am no plumber. 

 

Removed and cleaned the cistetn, then Changed out the new parts and reassembled it all. 

 

Two….. Monumental leaks. 

 

Swear, make lunch, hang laundry out (one lodger moved out into a house share with friends after a week) then disassemble it all. 

Gloop some super strong glue on the culprits and leave to dry. 

 

Reassemble again……

 

Guess what? 

 

Stopcock now leaking. (Plastic fittings on copper pipes. 

 

I will test it all tomorrow.

Really not much compared to the most channels out there. 
But I don’t share on Instagram, TikTok etc so I guess it’s not going to blow up unless someone shares it in the right place.

So I hot going on the tailgate. 
 

You probably struggle to understand how this took me about 6 hours to do over two days. 
 

The knotwheel of truth is incredibly hard on hands, wrists and shoulders so frequently stopping is mandatory.  Well, I just had to stop and restart. 
It left me hurting at night for a few days. 
 

After the Wire brushes I switched to the electric DA sander. 
 

One thing that took my tight ass mind a while to realise is that replacing the sandibg discs regularly would speed up and make the result much better and easier to attain.  
 

Of course before starting, I also welded up and finished all the holes from the tonneau cover attachment points. 
 

Then off I went.

Just watching latest video, my way of measuring paint for mixing is to use a cheap kitchen scale. 

When mixing and spraying wear disposable gloves, easieir to clean up and easier on the skin

Tape the tins like a V and easier to control

Monday morning 

My friend Mick who is building the Jaguar powered Rover has gone down the restoration rabbit hole, will be over later today for a visit. 
 

Not sure if he is coming for inspiration or to inspire. 
 

Looking forward to the visit. 
 

Yesterday,  Nick Wheeler who helped so much on the clever stuff of the Rezin Rockit build, popped in to see my progress. 
He had not been here since those smashed, rusted, mangled front fenders came back to me. 
 

I think he was a bit gobsmacked with what has happened since then in the last two weeks. 
 

His meticulous inspection of various parts including the parts that I had prepped and painted satin black. 
 

Important to strain the paint before painting. 
 

And wearing gloves helps. 
 

I am pleased with them too. 
 

Now stored in the corner of the garage, waiting……..
