i say i say it again...check your fuel lines today

just had the polo in for its mot...spotted a rubber fuel line about to let go , about 3 years old 

 

do yourself a favour and check your old hoses before your car goes on fire

 4 weeks ago I collected my mustang from storage and  wilfully ignored some flexible fuel line thet looked questionable. 2 days later it let go and the stream of pez  was about 4 foot long.

almost like fuel line needs changing every 12-18 months now

I did the X1/9 a few years ago which is really easy and they’re still nice and flexible. The 2cv I’ve replaced a few times in the same period.  No idea why but it needs checking like you mention.

at least one Citroen SM has gone up in flames with old fuel lines.

Gates 'Multi fuel' hose is my go-to now.  Everything else turns to goo/ splits/ cracks (unless it's really, really old stuff!)
