Engines from scrappage scheme cars? PRV swapping.

I am wondering if I should look for a Volvo B280 engine to have in stock for eventual swap into my 604. This is the engine fitted to 1988 to 1991 Volvo 760 GLEs.The engine in my 604 is the type (same as Volvo B27) that suffers from cam / rocker wear eventually because the cam is only lubricated by tiny jets in the rocker arms. When the jets block it's game over.In the B280 this was fixed because they built an oil bath into the head that the cam lobes dip into. They were the only bomb proof variant of the PRV in a rear wheel drive car.If a Volvo gets traded in for the 2 grand scrappage are they allowed to sell me the engine?another option is to buy a crashed or rusty one. A whole car would be easier because I might need to nick the injection and ignition systems too.

Whoever takes the car away from the dealer can break the car for parts, including the engine. It's not as idiotic as the American scheme that saw them deliberately wreck all the scrappage engines.

There's a volvo specialist over near hoxton or dalston area (east london) that has 8 - 10 or so from scrapped cars. Can't remember his name. If you're interested, I'll have a serious think.

Possibly... The name kind of rings a bell, but I guess the senility is taking hold quicker than I care to admit.....
