Humber Bridge Opening on News at Ten. Shite content.

As there are a few shiters from this region, I thought the following might be interesting.

 

Autoshite points for the first car travelling over, what at the time was the longest suspension bridge in the world, a Herald 13/60 Estate loaded with what looks like boxes of A4 paper. Also the Hull lads in a metro, and the bloke with a cine camera out the sunroof of a Talbot Alpine.......

 

It starts with Sandy Gall introducing it at at 6.56 mins.

 

 

Report concludes with a bloke crossing on a lawnmower... EDIT plus at 3.31 a shite advert for Honda motorbikes.....

 

 

On a personal note I remember the Red Arrows flying over Cottingham were the Vin family then lived, on the Bridge opening day. I also saw, in the local paper special for the 25th anniversary of the bridge, that the first car over from the south bank was an R reg VW Scirocco.....

Great stuff! The official opening by the Queen was on 17th July 1981. Whilst we might complan at £2.70 a go now, it hasn't gone up all that much in real terms over 30 years. It's a bloody long way round too!I love the Humber Bridge and each time I go across it it never ceases to amaze me and coming back up the M62 you know you're really home when you go underneath.
