New acquisition of nearly-shite

It had to happen eventually - I bought a modern car....

I had a good run of nearly 4 years of only driving older cars but I've now relented due to various issues within the fleet of late and whilst it would be considered an old shitter by the general populus and ripe for scrappage, my new acquisition is positively brand new by my my standards!

So here it is, a 1999 Toyota Starlet 1.3 Sportif (!) with only 30,000 miles on the clock and a real minter. I pick it up next week.

OK, not everyone's idea of heaven and probably more suited to my granny but I rather like it. It scores extra shite points by having windy windows and no power steering.

It's funny but the overall feel of it is one of a car from the late 80s so it still fits in with my ethos!

Nice one, you shouldn't get many problems with that and so much nicer than a fiesta methinks. I'd like a real basic small Jap car, i'm thinking Cuore but I would have a startlet, I know what you mean about the basic spec reminding you of an eighties car. :)

Those are jolly good, and that one looks to be in great nick. Nice one.(Engine code 2E-E is 75BHP, 4E-FE is 88 BHP)

I love the way you think of 1999 being a new car! Same here might I add, seems like yesterday....

Ah that's interesting, this one is a 4E, does feel pretty nippy.

Bought a 5 door one for my Daughter a year ago. Needed a CV boot, rear brake service and a tyre for test, and a starter and alternator since then, otherwise faultless. 4E-FE under the bonnet, very good on fuel, and in Lilac Metallic................... It was £200, so shite motoring , reliable and never going to get nicked in that colour. Top find mate.

Good Choice Mash :)I bought a 5 door one for my wife, it's a cracking little thing, seems to go like the clappers too. Hers is an S, which comes with power steering and windy windows. I know what you mean about the 'old school' feel of them!
