Saw the doc today about headaches and he suggested I get an anti glare screen for the computer. Anyone got any recommendations as to brands/places to buy etc?Ta

Unless you have a REALLY old interlace type monitor, a filter won't make any discernable difference. I'm not sure the filters can even be bought new anymore.Teh Bay way be worth a punt - they'll be cheap and worth a try.A frequent cause of eye strain among users of flatpanel screens is an incorrect brightness level, ie, to hig and it causes glare, to low and you have to strain your eyes to make out the image. Try farting about with the settings if you use a FP.

Yeah, as far as I'm aware any computer screen after about 1999ish hould be fine, just turn the brightness down a bit. Also LCDs should be no problem at all, headaches from CRT screens were caused by electrons being fired at the screen and therefore your face.

HSE Working With VDUs covers headaches on page 2 (yes I know HSE but it’s worth a punt).

Got sent on a course for this a couple of years or so ago. One lady arrived on crutches, visited the disabled toilets and a grab handle came away from the wall. She left in an ambulance. I’d love to have seen the accident report for that one…

I’m not going to get drawn into the CRT versus LCD debate – I see good and bad examples of both on a daily basis, but I’d take a good look at the environment the display screen is being used in before chucking money at filters.

Also, you could try an optician - I'm short sighted so wear glasses all the time but need lower strength ones for reading and computer work now.I'm getting/feeling old...On the screen front, I bought a 15 inch flat screen telly at the weekend that has freeview, built-in DVD and usb and monitor ports - £125 from curry's.

Current computer screens are too bright on their default settings.... which they revert to every time you re-boot or change between AC & DC power. I must have to turn the brightness down at least 11 times a day.

Thanks chaps - it never occurred to me to fiddle with the brightness
