Scrappage woes, ref : Mr Hirst

At the dealer where I work, we actively participate in the scrappage scheme. Most is dogshit on wheels.Today however, I saw a sad sight (no camera at work) 1985 Daihatsu Charade, 1 owner, unknown mileage. Gold 5 door. Barratts plates on it, history nowhere to be seen. I had a quick scan round it before it goes to be crushed, so I saved Mr Hirst the grille badge as a memento. I believe the reg is C786 KDT. Might be wrong though!

The rotters. That'll be a G11, not many of those left now. Much obliged for the badge-saving!

Such a shame he couldn't squirrel away the car behind it

The car industry has seen a rise in sales, 'but', it is 20% less than last year. That's because the recession hadn't started yet. They're pumping another huge amount of money (in billions) into the dead horse that is the car industry. If we have FOREIGN manufacturers threatening to remove plants over here, yet our fucking stupid government is putting more money into it, it doesn't make sense at all. The German govt wants a refund because GM might remove plants in Berlin etc. They're as bad as each other. It's a recession thanks to the banks. Stop putting all of our fucking money into shitty ventures Brown!

Banks, car industry pretty much the same thing. How come they didn't pump money like this into the coal industry in the 80s?

Couldnt agree more Fred. At the time we had the most efficient coal industry in the world pretty much. We couldnt match a lot of foreign coal in price as most foreign coal was massively subsidised & our Govt refused to subsidise our coal. Plus Thatcher just wanted to smash the Unions, but I guess thats another story.

Ooops, sorry, political rant there.

I'll lighten the mood with a piccy of some Transits during the miners' strike:
