the blue and silver ones are Wimilles, built by jean-pierre wimille 47-48.the silver one is citroen powered, the blue one has a ford V8 and was styled by phillipe charbonneaux (of renault 8/16 fame). no idea on the other two, the yella one is much too modern for my tastes. nice use of trumpet bonnet catches on the little roadster though!

cripes that makes it even worse!i dont think i'll be able to guess, but i want one! what a weird mishmash of styling, i see bits of DKW monza around the headlights, e-type on the bumper/intake, alfa 2600 around the rear arches/windows...wow! i'm gonna take a punt and say its either german or south american, but they kinda look like rudge knock-offs in the second pic, surely it cant be british??

OK, it's French. There's your clue.

that yella thing looks a bit like this:

Not exactly like it tho unfortunately!

and a somewhat easier one for everyone else

A SOVAM and a Coune MGB I'd say?The French thing is very hard... it looks like a lot of things and then again there's nothing familiar about it.

Posted

It's got a Renault 16 engine and was built between '65 and '72. Have you all given up?I would have got those two barrett but was happily tucked up in bed before 9.00 this morning!

Finally found it... and now I'm grumpy, I thought my internal database was filled with almost all Western European and Japanese makes and models.

On the other hand, well done carlo, that was a tough one!

Edit: I used this list to find it.

Nice one Michiel, it was a Marsonetto.

Here's a final ten, which I fully expect Michiel to get.

No more after this, I promise.

I've got L, M and T.I wish I actually "had" M as it's one of the most stunning-looking cars ever - sadly also the one I have absolutely zero chance of owning. They've also got a mad dashboard which probably goes wrong very often.

Posted

L = Mitsubishi ColtM= Maserati Quattroporte IIN = Autobianchi A111O = ....P = DKW Vemag (Brazilian iirc)Q = Zimp?R = probably an Innocenti Allegro?S = Panhard-based I guess ;-)T = Nissan/Datsun Silvia 311U = a gorgeous mix of BMW, Simca and DKW?

Thought you'd get most of them! Q is indeed the Hillman Zagato Imp, or Zimp. The Allegro was the Innocenti Regent - apparently even more of a sales disaster than the 1100/1300 series in Italy. O is hopelessly obscure, though South American, and you're a bit off on car U, although it is German.
Posted

bugger you guys are too quick, i had them all except O and P. actually i'm not sure on S but i guess it's a DB, albeit one i've not seen before.U is the Opel Kadett Spider by Frua, which is nearly idendical to the Ford Anglia Spider he did a couple of years before.edit: the badge on O looks amazingly familiar, and as i consider myself a bit of an expert on microcars i'm v. annoyed i can't get it. is it license built?

Posted

Actually I had P down as a DKW Fissore, though your name is probably the correct one for it.And S in not a DB, but the Panhards are certainly relavent.I think a clue is needed on car O, so let's say that the colours on the car match the country's flag.

oh, in that case it's a Dinarg D-200!

I think I might be a bit out, but....L - Mitsubishi of some kindM - De Tomaso Longchamp \ one off Maserati QuattroporteR - Innocenti Regent.T - Nissan Silvia CSP311 (the pre S series one).Other than that, I'm knackered.

Posted

ok how about these two.... get one and you'll probably get the other, seeing as they have the same chassis.

i'm guessing carlo already knows the second one.......

Posted

Hmm, first one looks British but probably isn't, second looks like it's Italian coachbuilt.

Posted

both correct! two different coachbuilt versions of the same british car, 1st one is british, second italian. The first is one of two, the other being a racer of a different style, this is the unique road-going version.both survive in british hands.... but the second hasn't been seen in puplic since the late 70s

The red roadster looks like Frua, so a Frua body on an Elan chassis? They did an E type with a similar nose. The blue 'un looks like a Bond Equipe \ Gordon Keeble front grafted on to a Elan mid section with the arse off a Ferrari 275 GTB 4.
Posted

It is the Elan isn't it. Second one is apparently a '66 effort from Frua but I have no idea who styled the British one. The wheels on this one were a clue.

Posted

good work guys, its the lotus 1600SS by frua.seeing the amount of frua stuff thats been on the last few pages i thought that would be easier... have you seen his 204 carlo? bloody lovely little thing.the other one is an elan too as you said, thought the doors would be a giveaway! it's an aluminium body, and the sister racing car is perhaps the most famous special bodied elan. both were bodied by a famous British coachbuilder who had a bit of a history with loti....i think thats enough clues!

I actually think that Frua 204 is a bit of an abomination, and not a patch on the factory version!

I still haven't found the Panhard thing... merde! Here's one I didn't know before today, and I think that might have been a better situation:
