American Concours d'Lemons

Recommended Posts

Posted

American lunatic Jay Lamm runs an endurance circuit race at various locations in the States called the 24 Hours of LeMon, for cars costing less than $500 (not including mandatory roll cage). More here http://www.24hoursoflemons.com/

As opposed to the UK, where there is a good supply of functional 500 quid cars, here in the colonies any running beater usually goes for $1500-$2000 minimum.

Some complete nutters decided this year to put on a Concours D'LeMons, atrocious shite cars from American history (and some Euro/Japanese trash too).

Mamma Mia - confirmation that a roadworthy US-spec Renner 16 exists!

I received a number of 1983 issues of Road&Track last week, and there were a couple of quality ads for these ("High Tech Imports from Dodge & Plymouth!") - the Technica package was a nifty digital dashboard, as was the rage back then. Plus the 2.6-litre 4-cylinder lump with an "MCA-JET", whatever the hell one of those is! Great pics.
