Cambelt Change (holiday prep).

Decided to get the old Hiace camper out of hibernation and carry out the overdue (on years, not on mileage) cam belt change.

I had noticed while buying a kit for the Surf, that the same belt kit fits the van, so bought two.  £50 quid a pop from Roughtrax, the 2.8 engine is the same block as the 2.4 (3L and 2L Toyota codes), bonus!  Have always known they shared filters etc, but was still pretty surprised....

Gratuitous pic of some old Japanese iron, they do not make them like this anymore, etc....

Note the easy* access provided by simply removing the driver's seat/handbrake assembly/floorpan!  Left it at that following a short and successful test fire, will put it all back together after work tomorrow.

Anyway, just an oil and coolant change to go, maybe a prod at a rusty fuel pipe towards the back end... will be carrying flexi pipe and clips on this year's trips methinks.

Should stress that 'getting her out of hibernation' actually consisted of refitting the battery and turning the key!  Really great old things, these...  Also gave the Audi coupe some love, cleaned, waxed and one door card out for velour re-sticking, a good Sunday.
