Steering Rack Gaiter - Espace

Has anyone ever fitted one of these? I'm having a real pig of a job getting the new gaiter in place. I gather that the set-up is similar on most recent Renaults so any tips you can offer are most welcome!Ta in advance...

Did you buy a genuine gaitor or a moody one??,i,ve heard the factor ones can be dodgy??Why are you finding it hard??,at least its not a v6 espace!

It's a Renault part. I can't get the gaiter over the outer end where the track rod end was, and I don't know how to split the rod assembly to fit it any other way. Also there seems to been a pipe (Air?) that needs to feed into the inner end of the gaiter.

Hmm,you do really need to get the TRE removed,and count the turns when you remove the TRE as a guide,but get it tracked to be sure after the job is done,IF you can,t remove it,getting the gaiter warmed up MIGHT help??hot water or hair dryerThe pipe you mean is the transfer pipe,same as my 25/safrane,i think it helps prevent the gaitors from collapsing inwards,but might be wrong!!

Yep, TRE is off but the small end of the gaiter is way smaller than the threaded end of the TR, hence the struggle to fit the bugger. I'll try the hot water method in the morning and see what happens. Cheers.

A 2 minute dunk in boiling water did the trick! Cheers for the tip.
