Wingz123 Posted November 18, 2018 Posted November 18, 2018 A car fitted with a stag LPG system does the following - Runs fine on petrol whilst both moving and stationary. Runs fine on LPG whilst moving but when stationary stalls. What could that be chaps? I don’t know a huge amount about LPG systems.... Thank you, James
Bradders59 Posted November 18, 2018 Posted November 18, 2018 Not an expert myself, but had a V6 Omega with a stag system a few years ago. I had problems with running on LPG, cant remember the exact details, but discovered the coolant pipework wasnt plumbed to the vapouriser correctly, so it would cut out on LPG in certain conditions.Might be worth checking for similar ?Often needs the software on a laptop to give live data to see whats really going on.
pilninggas Posted November 18, 2018 Posted November 18, 2018 Heavy ends in the reducer or worn injectors potentially. Where are you? I have a stag lead you can borrow to see live data. Stag software is downloadable from their site.
pilninggas Posted November 18, 2018 Posted November 18, 2018 + what system is it? What injectors are you running? Have you checked for vacuum leaks?
DodgeRover Posted November 18, 2018 Posted November 18, 2018 Is this a new occurance? Has it ever run correctly on gas?
pilninggas Posted November 18, 2018 Posted November 18, 2018 Is this a new occurance? Has it ever run correctly on gas?most sgi systems wont work on gas at all unless they autocalibrate on gas at natural idle. this is definitely case with stag systems.
Wingz123 Posted November 18, 2018 Author Posted November 18, 2018 Thank you for above replies - the car in question I have been looking for for AGES with an LPG system on it. I once heard someone say about various filters that need changing.... :/ ? Unfortunately it is one of these - do I take a gamble on it as I haven’t bought it yet..... Are there any Stag LPG people about that have worked/work on these? Thanks,

Thanks, stag stuff is amongst the easiest to work on. it's fairly idiot proof too. if you have a lead and software, providing the the car doesnt have vanos or other more complex tech, finding the fault shouldnt be difficult. people talk about replacing filters, but to be honest the contaminants tend to precipitate where there is a phase or pressure change [ie at the reducer or in the injectors]. As you are in london, have a google for a local lpg place - eastern european lpg fitters will be able to fix. i bet it's something simple.
DodgeRover Posted November 18, 2018 Posted November 18, 2018 Filters do get clogged but more likely to cause weak mixtures under high rpm/ load than at idle. Does it have an LPGA cert? They aren't worth the paper they are on but certain insurance companies insist on them. If it's a lexus check carefully for rot at the rear, also they need a flashlube kit to avoid valve problems, if it doesn't have one it's a sign of a cheap or DIY conversion.
