Junkman's International Spottage - London, New York, Paris, Tokyo - Utrecht

Since I now have a travelling occupation, I'm travelling The World.

The past few weeks I spent in Bonn, a small town in the Rhineland that has no history worth mentioning.

Thus you see more shite in a day than you do in Stockport in a year.

Like anywhere in Germany, the streets are still littered with Phase 1 Twingos.

Them Twingos - How is it possible to keep backing such a short vehicle into things?

Fuck a Duck, a 17 on what look like Dunlop D1 'loyz.

That Beetle is nice. 1965-67 6 volt 1300 with the bigger side windows and four stud wheels. I do like an old KdF and there used to be a black split rear window example parked outside my flat in Hamburg. Mad bugger drove it every day in the summer.

Beetles need to be 6 volt and entirely unmolested to be acceptable.

According to my 1978 Boutique brochure, they are indeed.

This thread supports my belief that many cars look best in 2 door form.

And where do I see the scan of this Booteek broshoore?

Alas I haz no scanner, or indeed a complete Brochure - only what is included in the generic All Model 1978 booklet which in any case would be hard to scan without breaking the Renault-spec binding.

However this may whet your appetite....

The past three days have been spent in that Utrecht, a terrible shithole just North of the Dutch Bible Belt.

So I kick this off with some Archishite that must be seen to be believed and even then is unbelievably shite.

Alas, it's no wonder The Climate is a bit shit:

This is one of the most depressing things I have ever seen.

Not sure whether a parked Cleon Fonte contributes much to The Climate Improvement®?

Same goes for an Indent Intent Indoor Pooshow Diesel.

And thus, my friends and copperplate engravers, endeth my trip to les Pays Bayennes, qui ne sont pas très denses et constamment défoncés.

I hope you enjoy it more than I do.

What about the Veemarkt in Utrecht?  Is that still going?  It was the cattle market, but on a Tuesday the car dealers would line up thousands of Cannock-auction-quality-trade-ins and then all of the Eastern Europeans would turn up in buses...buy them all within 4 hours...and drive them back to Romania or wherever.  It was organised chaos and a great laugh.  You could do all the paperwork and get white Dutch export number plates on site.  I've mentioned it on here before, but no one else seemed to have been there.  Was great fun to buy some rubbish and bomb around in it for a while.  Edit - Looks like it's moved to Amsterdam, but I think this video was shot while it was in Utrecht:

Nah, man, nowadays Brits rock up in Eastern Europe and drive sub Cannock Auctions chod home, including being fleeced in Bosnia,

which only is on the way from Romania to Blighty when you had Geography lessons in an English school.
