Looks lovely, and certainly does look bloody good for an 08 plate! In fact if they made cars like that in 2008 even I’d be buying them!

I think cars of that type and quality were the pinnacle of how cars should be. The quality higher end stuff from the mid 80’s to mid 90’s. They seemed to get the balance between simplicity, reliability and dependability about perfect with the early injection systems doing away with the irritations of carbs and points etc but yet they were still simple enough to be DIY friendly and long lasting. It’s one of the reasons I keep going for similar aged Volvo’s. They stand out nowadays too like good old stuff should!

Always liked those and keep telling myself to get one before they get expensive. But then the 740 would have to go.. Ironically I only chanced upon that whilst looking for a 190 a few years ago

I reckon a 740/760 would be one of very few logical replacements for my 190E (and just about the last new car release that I lusted over) but I think the Merc might last long enough to see the old Volvos price themselves out of my reach!

I think the banger racers will see the Volvo’s off before pricing does. They’re beginning to really thin out now and the amount of them going to the oval now Granada’s are about extinct, I think they’ll go exactly the same way. You rarely see a Granny now...

It was noticeably harder to find an ideal spec 740 the last time I was looking for one. Then I got lucky and this one fell into my lap.
