Its a bit off topic, but I've just seen a TV advert for an updated remake of the St.Trinians films, starring talentless freak boy Russell Brand. There does seem to be a distict lack of originality with films over recent years, there was even that truly shite remake of the classic Ealing comedy 'The ladykillers', others that come to mind are pityful modern versions of 'Get Carter', 'Alfie', and 'The Italian job'....Is it a lack of original ideas, or a love of nostalgia? As far as I'm concerned a St.Trinians film must be in black and white, and star Alistair Sim

Probably a bit of both I suppose - a lack of any new ideas combined with the certain knowledge that remaking something old wil be an easy way to make money.

They should leave well alone. The Ladykillers is one of the all time great films of the last century and its subtle brilliance should never have been sullied by that piece of diabolical cinematic cack the Americans dared to call by the same name. I have never heard so many gratuitous and unnecessary uses of the word f**k in all my life.

Hear hear!We've been going through the Gerry Anderson Thunderbirds dvds. That non-supermarionation remake a few years ago was perhaps the worst film I have ever seen. FAB
