That Sundance is brilliant, what a bleak prospect!

I'd like one, for that 1991 Miami rental car experience, that said, if its anything as bad or worse than the Neon I had, it's gonna be a god awful to drive...

Yeah that'd be superb! Drive around with a Hawaiian shirt on and ask onlookers for directions to the nearest IHOP/Chick-fil-A/Hooters in an exaggerated BBC accent.

Hey pal, I got a great bumper for ya, real cheap.

Ha! I love the mismatched Shadow/Sundance taillamps!

No doubt this question has been answerd before, but... how/why the hell were 90s Rovers being sold in the US? Were they badged (and marketed) as Hondas? Were they imported independently by certain dealerships?

Posted

There was an abortive attempt in the late '80s to sell the Rover 800 over there, badged as a Sterling.I think at one time the Sterling and its sister car the Honda Legend were at opposite ends of the JD Power reliability index or some such thing. How did they get it so wrong?

The 'CAK' tag just adds to beauty of that rear end

I'm always amazed at the number of surviving K-cars still on the road here.

SO sorry that I only caught this Mercury Mystique (Ford Mondeo Saloon) on the road and not parked somewhere.

Second rotten Milano in the past few weeks. I very much want one of these, but have resisted the temptation to earn enough money to buy one so far.

Aside from the wheel covers and cheap paint job, it was in decent nick. Okay, it was terrible.

I secretly kinda like those US Tercels... such odd styling.

Beware, the rear bumpers stick out further than they look

That 5-door version is unusual. Most survivors are 4-door saloons or 3 door hatches.

Those rear bumpers look like they make putting stuff in the boot slightly dangerous indeed... danger of ending up in the boot yourself.

I always liked those Tercels too, always thought the two-door coupé version would look good with the roof chopped off.I had a 2.5 Milano a few years back...it was the cheapest one I could find and was thus absolute rubbish, but I loved it nonetheless...Nice pics as usual!

Gent turned this from a collector's car into his daily driver when he had financial problems. I seem him around town all the time -- classic design.

Apologies for hijacking this thread, but I'm a Brit now living in northern Florida with an eye for an autoshite motor. I spotted this while trawling the local Craigslist sites. Originally marketed under the Merkur (Mercury) XR4Ti name http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Merkur_XR4Ti . All the ad says is that it's an '89 models, it runs, has a 2.3 Turbo and is auto with AC. Asking price $1200. It's a 2 hour drive from me otherwise I'd go and take a proper look at it.

I'll keep an eye out over here for European & UK models that appears over here rather than the usual Yank tripe.
