My neighbour drives an Ice Cream Van. 1981 CF with a Perkins 4.108, he was on his way down the A1 the other day, and with the temp gauge inoperative, he never noticed the excessive steam pouring out of the bonnet. He needs a Perkins 4.108 for a CF...............anyone got a cheap one? This one appears to be banana shaped with porous bits.............

Is it a soft icey with a PTO for the machine? If not I would fit a petrol, easier to find than a perky....

Wait till next year then get a new Perkins twin-turbo 130kW 4.4 engine, that will rattle off any amount of 99's and strwaberry mivvis.

I'd be much more willing to buy an icecream from a van with a decent engine note. Show me a CF or Mk2 Transit with a wobbly picture of Bart Simpson, a stack of far-out-of-date Tango cans in the window and the slow burble of a methanol fuelled V8 and I'll buy all the Fabs they've got.Bonus points for four side-exit exhausts either side burning the little kiddies legs.More constructively aren't there a few different adaptor kits for CFs to get more modern engines in there? I've seen a few campers with stuff like modern Renault commercial diesels and stuff, or even a 2.5di transit motor, that's gotta be more prevailant than the original.

It's a 1981 MK1, with the PTO on it.......having cooked it, the best option is to fully replace ther whole unit. It's never been out since build, as the front panel has never been cut and welded! I look after another with the same setup, but that's a '73.................in regular use! That plays the Colonel Bogey tune too. Both Morrison conversions. Almost identical.

There's a shabby Bedford CF ice cream van goes around parts of Castleford with an old biddy combo, the bloke drives the van and the woman stands up in the back hanging onto the counter for dear life. Quite funny to watch when he's going 30mph down some bumpy roads.

In the best tradutions of ice cream vans, he should wallop the body onto something it was never intended  Bedford CA back ends with caddilac fins attached to transite spring to mind...
