You need a happy ending to this tale cos i'm picking up a 4.6 next week and this thread is giving me the willies.

To be fair-this is the first FTP in 11 years-if I cannot fix it I'll sell it for spares.

Why not one with a real engine?

You are correct!

I had a moment of madness!!!!

3.5 or 3.9 V8 it will be!

You need a 70 or 80 series Landcruiser, preferably grey import direct from Japan so never seen salt.

These things just go on for ever, simple as anything ever made, if you got one and thoroughly rustproofed it, it could well be the last car you ever buy.

Well in fairness if a never seen salt Landrover product were thoroughly rustproofed it could also be the last car you ever buy. Because it would drive you into an early grave watching it rot out anyway.

Not just the rot Des, whilst i love older LR's  as much as anyone the love wears thin when you're always under the bloody things fixing yet another thing thats broke that shouldn't have.

I cannot abide pre-coil sprung Land Rovers.

At least it makes a nice kennel.

Range Rover now up and running. Computer unlocked-cost £200 not too bad. Had it11 years and this is the first non consumable bill. Still a few issues with interior lights and I'd better getva new battery - the one on it is at least 12 years old.

I'd like to get another 5 years out of it if it doesnt throw another wobbly!
