New UK Car Price Listings - December 1976

Following on from Capree's excellent 1974 prices thread, I thought I would start a new one for the prices two years later rather than hijack that one.

These are from the "Motorists Guide To New & Used Car Prices"

A brand new car for £1,000 was still just possible, if you didn't mind it being a Wartburg.

Around £1,700 was needed for most mainstream choices, though, getting you in a basic Escort, Allegro or Chevette.

At the other end of the scale, £37,539 was required to purchase a Rolls-Royce Camargue.

Scans of the whole book here, many pages of used car prices for anyone who's interested:

Excellent!

For comparison purposes the 1974 prices included VAT. All prices were for manual versions unless auto-only or stated as auto.

As already mentioned my listing was summarised, I can provide price info on more models if they were available in 1974.

Note, by 1976 the Fiat 130 Coupe had gone up another £2k to £9k.

Edit, I just checked out a price conversion site and, as a general guide, the conversion factor of prices between 1976 and 2017 this time is 7.71.
