Quick brake question?

Those discs do look knackered.

I had to use heat to loosen the brake carrier bolts on my Rover 820. The thread bolts when out had a blue substance on them so I suspect it was a form of thread lock. Anyone  else does this job with heat, remember to wrap the CV boot and any nearby ball joint boot with a wet towel. You dont want to burn it and then have to replace it. Heat softens the thread lock

Both front brakes now done. Things I've found out. Building gloves with the rubber on the palm are much better than the latex ones which seem to last 5 minutes before tearing and are hard to put in when hands are sweaty. Also better for gripping things. The case for my jack makes a handy place to store all the bolts and other bits once removed. Don't forget to fit the pad retaining spring and then have to jack up again and take the wheel off. Done that twice!

I'm glad I managed to change the discs as they were quite rusty on the inside edge.

Slightly annoying is the pad warning light is still on even though the pads have been connected up. The sensor is only on the nsf wheel surprisingly. Maybe there's a sensor on the rear wheels too. Will have a look another day as rolling around the driveway on my knees has worn me out!
