Code Reader for Mondeo MK3 petrol.

I am looking for recommendations for a Code Reader suitable for a Mondeo MK3 petrol year 2002. This is the first car I have owned that is OBD2 compliant so I am not sure which model would be suitable for it. I have not used a Code Reader before.

Also, where does it plug in?  I cant see a plugin point under the bonnet. Is the point inside the car? Thanks.

I use one of these on a mkiii Mondeo 2.0 petrol and it works well.   I bought a couple from other sellers before I got this one and had to send them back because they wouldn't connect.

You can download a variety of free OBDII apps for your phone to connect to it.  'Torque' is a popular one.

I bought a cheap £15 years ago, unless you are wanting to read ABS etc faults it should do the job.

Thanks Dead_E23, I have just ordered your recommended blue tooth scanner. I had not realized these things existed. And thanks also for the pointer to "Torque", I will try that. I was ignorant of that app as well.

You're welcome.  I forgot to mention where the OBDII port is.   Sitting in the driving seat, if you reach under the dash with your right hand you'll find it right underneath, behind the little change compartment.  I think there's a little flap over it or something.

There's a rule about OBDII ports which says it has to be possible to reach them from the driver's seat.  This is fine until you want to plug a tool with a cable into the port and go for a test drive, then the cable is in the way.   Silly rule.

It's under the steering column shroud just above the pedals, it pulls down on a slider.
