New emissions tests?

I am aware that Euro 6 emissions are on the horizon with manufacturers struggling to get their cars to meet the standard.

 

However lots of people are panicking that there are new tests for old diesel cars that will see many of them turned into fridges.

 

Have people added 2+2 and come up with five or is there something in the wings other than a potential scrappage scheme?
