I seem to remember my E38 BMW was a right bollocks to bleed, I ended up jacking the front end up a foot or so and leaving it to sort itself out overnight

I regard the "clever" BMW electronics for the temp gauge to be one of the stupidest designs of all time.  Imagine if your fuel gauge stayed bang in the centre between 1/4 and 3/4 full.

I guess it fools modern German car buyers in to believing everythings cool and never breaks cos german, despite potentially underlying overheating issues.
