This is available for 2 grand, it's late 2006. 63000 miles from new. Serviced by me for last few years, it has nothing wrong and all new tyres. Could and will be cleaner. You won't buy anything slower, might do the job if you're a patient soul.

Edit- on second thoughts

Wotcha. I remembered starting this thread a while back. Well it has come to pass that I have returned to the UK after 10 years in Sweden. I am not sure at the moment if I have 'come home' or 'left home'. We shall see if my ambivalence changes over time.

Anyway, I decided against getting a van, of any sort, in the end and instead used a removal company in the traditional fashion. The only things not to fit in the truck were a small plastic box of kitchen ware and a lava lamp, so it was clear a van was surplus to requirements.

So I used a vehicle already in my ownership, flying out to Sweden last Thursday to fetch it home. So this has kind of changed into a collection thread, although not really because I haven't bought anything and also because the number of photos I took doesn't justify a separate thread.

Got back earlier today

Do one anyway...  :)

I can't switch to a new thread now...I tell you what, I'll add something about "Collection" in the thread title. That seems a good compromise

Anyway the only thing that got left behind when we moved (other than the lava lamp etc) was this..

British Leyland, 1970 vintage, 65k kms on the clock and one of the finest colours the early 70s had to offer.

I got it in Vasteras (an hour or so west of Stockholm) about 5 years ago. The drive back was about 375 miles so I knew about all its qualities as a long distance tourer.

Here it is 'at home' with the Turning Torso behind it

and a bit earlier enjoying the launch of the new MINI in copycat retro orange

So then we headed back, via Lubeck, Hamburg, Enschede (Nice church, see below 1), Rotterdam (Impressive cheese shop, see below 2)

Everything went well until car got hit by a caravan at Rotterdam docks damaging the passenger door. FFS

But anyway, we got home.

'bout 600 miles. Car never missed a beat. Scarred but unbeaten!
