Rant time.When I bought my Saab 900 in early Feb I parked up the Rover 416 intending to flog it. So I sent the tax disc back to DVLA for a refund.Got a letter from them today, hurrah I thought, my refund, only been 6 weeks. Only it wasn't.Dear Sir your application for refund has been rejected because either my name isn't on the V5 (it is) or I hadn't declared SORN. (You do this on the refund form).It gets better. We haven't returned your tax disc, it has been CANCELLED for "Security Reasons"So no refund or tax disc then.Gets a bit better.If I do eventually get a refund it will not be backdated to my original application.Faceless monolithic lump of putrid dogshitRant over

Speak with one of their carbon-based information units, and explain the situation - I've found them to be very helpful.

Yeah, ring them. Takes a while to battle through the menu system but if you get to speak to an actual person, they usually sort you out.I had an issue with a car being registered to me that I didn't own, I tried writing a letter but they just turned round and asked me to pay for a taxdisk for said car-i-didn't-own! So i rang them, and the chappie suggested I write another letter, and at the top put in big capital letters "I DO NOT OWN THIS CAR. I HAVE NEVER OWNED THIS CAR". Direct quote.It worked
