Can anyone in Aberdeen help?

My sister has a Pug 207cc 1.6 which failed to start this morning. Apparently the timing chain has gone, but nobody seems willing to say for certain.

Can anyone in the area look at the car and offer a diagnosis?

Thanks.

Prob just jumped rather than broken - will probably throw a cam/ crank phase code or maybe just a cam sensor fault .

I have no idea.

It apparently made terrible noises and wouldnt start.

The bodyshop up the road reckoned the timing chain. The AA turned up and the guy gave it a quick glance and proclaimed it dead. Its been towed to a garage but they dont seem interested. Will know more tomorrow.

She has no tools and cant do anything herself.

I am literally a thousand miles away so no help. Its frustrating to know she might get screwed over.

Sounds like the crank is spinning fine but whether the top end is doing anything is doubtfull.

Did she buy your Honda? I havent heard anything from her.

No, she liked the Honda but decided it was too noisy.

She's bought Stuart's Fiesta, seems like a bargain (missing V5 aside) and now wants to put the Peugoet alloys on it.

That'll be interesting with the difference in offset.

IIRC you can put Ford alloys on a Pug with spacers, but the other way round will result in the pug alloys poking out beyond the Ford's arches!
