So I haven't used the 45 since it was MOTd in February. A combination of changes to plans and high insurance prices have meant that I've put off insuring it and using it. Rather than leaving it sat on the drive waiting for the 75 to go wrong, I thought I would offer it up here and see if anyone was interested.

 

Car in question is my 2004 Rover 45. It has MOT until 10th February 2017 and passed with no advisories. Mileage is just under 34,600. 1.6 K series engine.

 

Unfortunately the car was written off in November last year. There was no structural damage, but the car needed a new nearside headlight unit and bonnet. As you can see these have been replaced, however the bonnet is the wrong colour and the headlight is from an MG ZS. So that counts for some extra BHP?

 

Car is a good spec. Extras include heated seats, headlamp washers, air conditioning (works very well), electric mirrors and front windows, electric sunroof, front foglights and rear parking sensors.

 

As far as mechanicals go, it is rather good. I had the headgasket/water pump/cambelt/thermostat changed last year, the tyres were new last year and the entire exhaust was also replaced. The clutch was changed the year before I bought the car. It is just a little bit cosmetically challenged now, although it still drives spot on and like a low mileage car should. 

 

The only other negative I can think of is that the front wings are dented and have received a shoddy paint repair. Although given the contrast with the bonnet I would say it adds to the charm! 

 

I would keep it and use it, but the cheapest insurance quote I can get for it is well over £600, which is far too much for a second car. I have my 75 now and it is a shame to keep it standing indefinitely. It is as mechanically sound as a 45 can be as it has had all the major jobs done on it, so if someone is looking for a cheap and reliable runabout then this may fit the bill.
