Focus misbehaving

Our 51 plate focus TDCi would sometimes not start instantly - on the second or third attempt with the key it goes.

 

It did this the other day after being driven a short distance - when it started the goow plug warning light was flashing and the engine was down on power - little or no boost.

 

I drove a short distance like this, parked car up came back to it - car was fine and has been so ever since.

 

I checked for codes via the test function on the panel, nothing showing, so I put some snake oil in the tank and sprayed EGR cleaner into the induction system - not as good as a proper strip and clean, but I am wary of stripping 15 year old components off a car and no doubt I would need new gaskets as a minimum. I am not getting into spending ££££ on a snotter.

 

Lets see if it behaves itself.

Flashing light on a diesel is an emissions related issue - usually egr valve fault on a ford - strip and clean time
