Who is/was Bruce Millan though?

Bruce Millan (1927 - )

 

Politician. Millan was born in Dundee and educated at the Harris Academy in the city. He served as Member of Parliament for Glasgow Craigton (1955-83) and when that seat was abolished for Govan (1983-88). Millan occupied the post of Secretary of State for Scotland (1976-9). He went on to become European Commissioner for Regional Policy and Cohesion (1989-95). He was awarded an honorary degree by the University of Abertay (1994) and was elected an Honorary Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh.
