Maybe Tata charged a sensible low price in keeping with the cars budget construction thus keeping expectations realistic.

Rover on the other hand tried to pass it off as some kind of mainstream western offering to rival the new Panda, Nissan Note etc.

CAR magazine did a back-to-back with the Panda and reckoned the Cityrover had the better chassis set-up.

Possibly got it wrong, but either way they really are piles of shod, and not our kind either.

 

Totally my sort of chod. 

 

All that was wrong with them was RG charging what they did for them - sold at a sensible price they'd have flown off the forecourts and 'mainstream' manufacturers could have had a problem on their hands when the 2nd gen City/Indica arrived, for not too much more.

After much delay I have finally collected the Tata shite. sorry no collection pics.

 

Its quite good on the body, apart from a few minor dents, tidy interior and engine sounds good. Haven't driven it yet because all the tyres are perished.

 

The wipers don't work, bonnet cable broken and only one key and fob, not the master one. So will be selling it on, breaking for parts or might buy another if I can find one the same colour.

 

Oh its done about 60000 miles and ten previous owners.

If the bonnet release handle has gone loose and flappy, check it isn't simply the case that the cable has come off the back of the handle. Easy to do if someone has been ham-fisted with it in the past.
