Rustoleum - paint compatibility

Probably left this a bit late now but here goes...

Just coming to the end of a fairly lengthy bout of welding on the van; inner wings, floors, part sills, front panel, load floor etc.

Rightly or wrongly I've prepped and painted the repairs using Upol 8 acid etch and seam sealed it using a Polyurethane seam sealer. What I want to know is can I over-paint this using Rustoleum or is it likely to react? On the underside I have used Upol 'gravitex' stonechip - again, will Rustolem be ok to slap over the top or am I likely to get a reaction?

I know spraying is the answer, but I don't have great facilities or a load of spare wedge to chuck at it. Just want something that'll keep the thing solid and protected and look half tidy. So brushable paint is what I'm after!

Any thoughts or ideas gratefully received!

Im smearing Rustoleum all over my Panda....bare metal, old paint, underseal etc etc....it seems to be coping fine.

I thin it a little with white spirit and slap it on with a brush - takes two coats for decent coverage with 12 hours or so drying between coats.

Previous experience (not cars...railings and gates and stuff) shows rustoleum to last much, much longer than other metal paints including Hammerite, which is shit these days.

as far as paints go rustoleum goes over pretty much anything thats sound so yeah it should be fine

there has been a few instances where it stays sticky for a while over the seam sealer , maybe dust a bit of primer over than if you can before the rustoleum?

I used combicolour when I painted my 2cv. I used bright orange inside and out with black on the floor and wheels. Some 7 years later, the wheels which I've moved to my other 2cv still look good, with no rust blisters.

It went over other standard primer no issues, I think it's a pain to paint over with celly or 2k though. You'd need a barrier coat first for that I guess.

yeah combi color is what most folk use ...

and i wouldnt use it if you plan to respray with 2k or celly as it would cause agro , but then most people buying rustoleum wont be doing that

Cheers peeps, there are a few silver/grey options in that as well, so I even have a choice.
