Oil stop leak additive, any thoughts?

Righto. Have used wynns stuff to help with oli leaks at either end of the crank on my AMC. It has been helpful, if not a total answer.

K Seal totally wrecks KV6s - granted it may bung up a OMGHGF long enough to move it on to some unsuspecting punter, but it bungs up the heaters and the oil cooler and in the end makes it all worse, the MG ZTT currently occupyjng my garage when my convertible should be in there is a victim.

As Station has rightly said, all the Wynns oil stop leak does is thicken the oil in the sump.

I think its coming from the camshaft oil seal, but to be honest the thought of having the belt off etc to replace a £4 seal is a bit much.

Just in case you're tempted, I can report that moulding a supplementary external camshaft seal from half a tube of silicone sealant, has absolutely no beneficial effect. As proved by the previous owner of the van!

Hi, From what I understand it attacks.. reacts affects the oil seal and makes it swell and grip tighter...ooer

Try a bit on the ole dick.....if it works throw it in your engine

Years ago they used to lob a handfull of sawdust in there :-D used to work in gearboxes,

or was that when the dog leaked on the kitchen floor...........................either way it worked...sort of :?
