mark165 Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 After seeing Swedish cars in the eBay thread, I think this may be the best place to ask. I quite like my road trip holidays, especially in low value cars. Why spend money on a hot beach holiday, when you can spend it on getting your legs stuck to hot vinyl seats and worrying about breakdowns? For the next one, I'd like to fly somewhere (or boat) collect and drive back. About June time. Questions/criteria, if anyone can help? How would I insure?Any advice on finding something? 500 or less (more for something cost neutral).Preferably RHD.Location must be as such to get back to Kent in four days. Any advice appreciated.
Alan_Green Posted December 4, 2015 Posted December 4, 2015 Brilliant thread title. Why does it have to be so near home? Who wants to drive on boring Euro roads? My bizarre idea of a holiday is to fly somewhere like Ghana....shitedrive for a week.....then fly back. Return flights are the same as singles; there's tons of tat about; no insurance worries; there's always a bush mechanic for breakdowns; and everything but the flight is dirt cheap. The trick is finding someone who will lend you a car. Even utter tat is worth 20 years wages. Taxi drivers usually don't mind letting you drive, but they'll want to come along for the trip.
mark165 Posted December 4, 2015 Author Posted December 4, 2015 Well I'd quite like to drive it back here. Otherwise no one would believe me you see. Plus, I once hired a very tired six cylinder budget spec Holden Commodore with no air con and a broken temperature gauge. In tropical Queensland. Which served as my wedding car. So I'd need to better it. Also, self employed.
