Does this seem a bit too cheap?

Work bought a 04 plate Astra G for £200 a couple of months back for shuttle use with a decent MOT on it that was (and somehow still is) in better nick than this thing.

I had the same 1.6 16V engine in an Astra G and it was quite nippy and economical, what did they do to it when they fitted to this model of Astra as it is just appalling now. I'm assuming they had to nobble it for EU reasons same as the Fiat engine.

Offer £300 and see what they say.  If you get it for less than £500, open front passenger door, locate rubber grommet hiding the wires going to the back door, spend 10 minutes locating and fixing the wire that is broken and voila, a working back door.

Cheap* cars are cheap* for a reason. Unless I am buying a cheap* car of course. Then it is a bargain (Cheap plus man maths minus logic = bargain)

As LJK Setright famously didn't say, "if you want it badly enough buy it. Your mistake is only an autoshite raffle away from getting some of your money back"

*Does look a bit suspect in this case though.

Did you buy it? Do you regret asking for advice on here? One thing you can be assured of is an honest answer from autoshiters!

Nope, didnt buy it, I've seen some of the (s)crap that's been bought and sold on here and my thinking its you guys standards can't be very high so if you're saying that's a shed then it truly must be, I'll listen to people with more experience of shit/shite than me.

I think I do want an Astra H/Vectra C as a WBOD though, or maybe an Astra G Coupe (although I hate the interiors in Astra Gs)
