Focus arm rest

Our 2002 focus has an armrest on the driver's seat that can be moved up/down.

 

There is a round knob on the back that has broken off - nothing to do with the rest itself, it appears to be a lumbar adjustment of some sort.

 

To replace the broken parts the arm rest will have to be removed.

 

Any ideas? Haynes BOL is silent on the subject.
