Transferring reg. plate on retention certificate?

If someone has a re. no. on a retention certificate in their name, how much does it cost to transfer said certificate to someone else (i.e the buyer) please? Tried ringing the DIVLADS but they're 'busy, please try later'

Also, assuming cert. does get transferred to new owner, is there another fee to put it onto a car?

Nothing, the fee has been paid if its on retention

If the certificate is on retention then the assignment fee is paid so all you have to do is get the money from the buyer and send them the certificate for them to put on their car.

 

There's somewhere on the back of the certificate that you need to fill in as your nominating the buyer to use your number.

 

You can't change your name to the buyers name but giving them the certificate is all you need to do.

 

We sold our mokka number and all we did was to get the money into our bank then sent the certificate recorded delivery then the guy put it onto his car, dead easy!!

You can apply the registration to a car online now, unless they've pulled the service (they do say this stuff is in beta). And they ditched the £25/year retention fee - retention now lasts 10 years!
