Guess the amount of time on various jobs

Taking gearbox out of Astra - I've already got it on axle stands. I'm starting now!

I'm taking the subframe off as it's less fiddly and it 'drops straight out'.

How long - three hours easy job, or 3am and tools are embedded in all four walls?

If you're anything like me, it will take 10 hours first time then two hours to do it again when you realise you forgot to put the clutch release fork back in.

I will go with 3pm Sunday as you are bound to break something made of unobtainium with the last secondhand one being found only at a scrapyard 50 miles away that don't open until 10am on BHS. This is how my life works anyway......

Subframe out, exhaust off, linkages disconnected!

This is going well!! Have only muttered one obscenity when the ball joints were spinning in the base.

Just swapping the gearbox for another one

Gearbox out! That was easy!!

Rubber gloves still on hands, tools still present and not disappeared somewhere and it's still light!

Now getting it back in. :'(

I always get worried when jobs seem to be going well ... something unexpected is waiting to bite you in the ass just when you think you've nearly finished, or fill it full of fluid without the drain plug in.

It went splendidly well! Two and a half hours. I finished an hour and a half ago with an hour break of jet washing gearbox and subframe at sainsburys and some munch at chez stationz'.
