pimping out the XUD!

Recommended Posts

Well I know PSA would pimp out it's diesels to whoever had the cash to buy them, wether it be the XD engines to Ford for the Granada and Sierra, or the XUD to FSO, Rover and the likes... But I didn't ever, ever imagine they'd end up in American motor mowers!

So, I guess we can say the XUD was offically sold in the US!

Sounds a bit like a Flymo powered by an old 205.

They put loads of them in canal barges too

Typical 'merkins - gotta do everything bigger! a 5 gang mower like that in UK would likely use a wee Kubota or Yanmar 3cylinder 18hp motor.

OK its hand built by some nut job but I'd not fancy a head gasket leak cross open water! LOL  - stop press I had no idea Jodel was a real manufacturer......

sounds nice with the straight through short pipe:-)

Not exactly sure what's keeping it cool though?

Kalmar used the XUD in forklifts too.........they did a 1.5tonner with an XUD. We used to drift them into the workshop in wet weather!

Looking back it was a bit dodgey as there were opaque strips hanging across the doorway..............but I suppose the noise was a good warning

As an aside, I have seen Perkins Prima ( Montego / Maestro ) engines in roadsweepers
