The fizzly Renault 18 (?) time forgot...

....a mate of mine does a bit of house clearance /minimal tidy up work to sell, for a local soul-less estate agent; anyhow he told me about what he tought was an old jetta or Passat 'very overgrown' in paddock next to a tumbledown old cottage, he was cleaning up for the estate agent...

...being into the old vws, I said Id take a look; both for rust porn pics n whatever few bits might be salvageable.... so this evening a free mutually convienent 'free hour' presented itself; and the brother came along for 'the adventure of it' - about 20mins away n half way up a mountain...

anyhow after eventually getting into the overgown paddock a very fizzly Renault 18 is the sight that greeted us - all doors boot n bonnet have rusted solid catches etc, we brought no tools, so yours truly climbed through the sunroof aperture (looked like the glass pop up type) - the roof caved in after I extracted myself....NOICE!!! this led to the rear screen being easily removed intact...

all wheels were already pilfered, n the thing was surrounded with stingy netals ; looks to be a petrol, from the glimpse I got of the lump, as the rad n grille had already been taken....

We got a bit distracted after about 20 mins, as the 'neighbouring farmer arrived on' fishing for info on WTF we were at....

Its only 10 mins from the scrappies, who take mixed alloy, so I might get up there next week n weigh its lump n box in... anyone any ID on it model wise?? I know very little about them - its complete car the rad wheels n grille...

probably not at all desireable but I might save glass or whatever trim etc for some poor, afflicted Renault enthusiast...

Pro'ly not a lot left for spares then. Is the interior OK was it water tight?

Posted

@ultrawomble - interior was sort of sealed till my 16st frame jumped up on the roof - doors were a jar but latched on drivers side, but stuck fast- pools in the footwell  - someones had the steering wheel off n colum- interior plastics look 'okay'- we couldn't get to the passenger side with all the overgrowth... I'll probably clear a path to it for my disco to get near, chain the r18's axle to the discos hitch n drag it... id say it'll break apart - it has to go anyways...

Yo Deer_skins, I have a Renner transaxle, from a 25TD I think, its in France but next time I go to the Bo11ox museum I'll fetch it for you if its any use. (July time) I'm not doing owt with it. I bought it thinking it was a valuable UN1 box but it isn't.

I may be interested in the rear axle from this crapper too if you can get it off in one piece.

I'll get up there, hopefully, one of the days next week, with 'all the gear', start  'flatpacking it'

Im in southern Ireland - Tipperary; its a long way n all that (!)... I spose it could be couriered on a pallet over to Scotland?

Or I could visit Ireland sometime like the advert keeps telling me to.

Actually, wait, that's Scotland and I've already been here.

...I presume it displays lots of 'fiddle-playing' red faced people, flame haired lassies dancing jigs, all jammed into a bar overdecorated with antique jugs n bikes hanging from the ceiling, similing ear to ear n supping the 'black stuff' n 'having the craic'....??

...its exactly like that ad here, n you wont be disappointed (much)...

MORE ONCE FORGOTTEN MOSS COVERED FRENCH TAT PIC PORN!!!

PUG 205 1L 1985 XXX CONTENT.... nothing to do with me- it landed down the lockup 'complex' (an ex milk creamery) overnight (or possibly yesterday as I wasn't there all day yesterday)- presume it belongs to the new owners of the 'lockup complex',( and therefore my new landlordz!!) as the father is well into his old decripid motorised shite, he told me previously, but I had yet to see any hard evidence of this - it seems he 'talks the talk n also 'walks the squidgy walk', judging by this new arrival...
