I was speaking to a customer at work today who showed me a few pics of his car in his garage,he then told me these are live pics and not photos,he had some sort of camera on his car in his garage and it was linked upto his phone so he can look at live pics of the car incase any trouble happens and it had a motion detector aswell that would send an alarm to his phone if there was movement in the garage.

He said his son sorted it out as a present and had no idea where it came from but thought it wasn,t to expensive,he mentioned Maplins but i can,t see what he has on there site, any ideas?

The last thing I would want is a constant reminder of all the jobs I still haven't done and all the crap I haven't cleared up.

Anyone who tries to burgle the garage will break their bloody neck like I nearly do every time I go in there.

We have 4 running on a derelict house abroad, they are basic but need electricity and an internet connection. Internet is via a mobile phone type sim card. I think the "refresh" rate is 7 seconds and they can be set to detect motion then send a text message. they are adjustable remotely within limits but there is a delay.    When a spider decided to spin a web in front of one camera it caused 450 text messages before there was a pause long enough to send a remote "off" command.  Their cheapness means the software is not very user friendly but for what we want they work.

You're lucky it was a spider and not a teenage girl, you'd have had 450000 text messages, all of them inane drivel.

Apparently an old iphone type of thing running some program or other can be used for CCTV, saving footage to that cloud bollocks, early models are highly unfashionable so low value. The simplicity of a tripwire and shotgun does appeal mind.
