The police certainly aren't as clued up about mods here. I remember being stood on a main street in Auckland a few years ago on a Saturday night. The police were just lining the low cars up for inspection. They had jacks at the ready any everything! I met up with some lowrider guys over there (they were all wannabe gangsters bless 'em ), but they said that lowriding has to very underground due to the strict laws. I got the impression that they quite liked being part of a 'secret' society. Made them that little bit naughtier!

Mr Lobster Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 About nine months ago, place I was working was on the same site as a service centre for a big motorstore. Youngish lad (early 20's I'd guess) has financed himself up and bought a five year old Civic Type R.After he'd owned it a week, it gets recovered back in to the workshop with a dead engine. Seems that in the week he'd had it, he'd covered about 1500 miles at fairly high speed, and as these engines are a bit partial to a drop of oil it had run out of oil and seized. The amusing bit was with the car in the air you could admire the stereo 'install' - A BIG amp sat in the boot. To connect this to the stereo itself our hero had drilled straight through the boot floor and run the cable underneath the car, cabletying it to THE EXHAUST which had promptly melted and the front suspension before routing it up through the engine bay (via a dodgy connection to the battery) and somehow drilling a hole in the passenger footwell from where it made its way to the stereo. The mind just boggled!
simmo Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 Even the proffessionals get it wrong one of the vehicles we used to look after was a crew bus for the fire service which had various radio systems.This required mounting 3 mike holders so they mounted them on the cover for passenger air bag.
