M42 twink, so yes it's chain driven. Radiator is the culprit it seems, should have a new one in by close of play tomorrow, buggerance factor and weather notwithstanding.

A mate who runs his own garage had a customer who would run newish Granadas, say 3 or 4 years old and drive them till they died.He had a theory that a new engine every few years was cheaper than regular servicing!I've never been able to work out if that was true or not.

IBM used to do something like this with their company fleet in the early 90's so I've been told - their policy was no cambelt changes to be paid for, regardless if the car needed one mileage-wise - theory being that they only kept 'em (Vauxhalls mainly) for 12 months. My mate did 40k in his Carlton in 11 months - 4k over belt change interval - and it went snap on the M42.Sounds barking to me, but then so is spending £2k in repairs & servicing (not all at once! Over 15 months/30k miles) on a £500 405 I s'pose! In for a penny, etc.Hope the BMW rads have Jubilee clip connectors Pog, Peugeot ones have these godawful twist/snap placca jobs that are a PITA.
