Anyone know a decent bodyshop in the Northwest?

Evening all.

The trusty old mondeo has gone the way of all 90's fords and succumbed to a nasty dose of tin worm in the back arches.

Unfortunately I dont have access to either a welder or the facilities/know how to replace the arches myself. So do any of you fine people know of a decent bodyshop in the Northwest, preferably around Oldham?

Cheers

Alex

in a word, no.....

the only guy i would trust now with my chod is called martin allen, his spot is near malton in north yorkshire.

he isnt cheap but he does pride himself on doing a proper job.

he has recently done one back arch on the jaguar, i got the repair section, and he fitted it.

is cost about £300, as i said not cheap but it is a repair done with metal and not gob and filler.

Not near Oldham, but I can recommend this place in West Cumbria:

http://www.mitchellsminis.co.uk/

I used him a few times, know a few others who have as well, and he's done a great job every time.

As a Brucie bonus he always has loads of (mostly Mini based) chod knocking about the site too. Las time I was in he had a Mini Marcos with a unique front-end moulding in the workshop, and the remains of a Riley Elf being carefully stitched back together.

Again, not the cheapest. It's always done properly though.

Cheers for the info guys, im not too worried about cost as i'd rather have a decent job instead of wob and fibreglass!

in that case do not under any circumstances use malton coachworks!

they did the jaguar wheel arch previously with filler and fiberglass, it was about a month before the paint started bubbling back up again. and all that for £700 quid, what can i say, i was naive and at that time didn't know any better....

what a dummy.

If you want my honest opinion I'd say get out the P40 and have a go at home. By the time you have spent upwards of £300 you could have put it towards a Mondeo with better bodywork. I'd be willing to bet if the outer arches gave gone then so will the inners along the leading edge, and in all likelyhood once he sets at it with the grinder the end of the sills will be on their way out. Its up to you but I'd get a local garage to weld up the structural stuff then fill the rest, then paste it with waxoyl at the back of the repair.
