Okay, so the jury is in on housemate's A-class.

The reluctor ring is £14. Car is stuck in limp home mode until it's replaced, replacing it means stripping off the front hub.

Now, this is all well and good but it also has crap tyres, knackered brake discs, pads with about a whisker of material left, a noisy serpentine belt (one of the few A-class jobs I really don't like), and the bolts are all in such a state that one ABS one snapped off, the other one turned from hex to circle rather than undo, and the shock absorber ones are still laughing at me.

And I'm away soon, for a month, so she needs wheels and can only drive automatics.

Almost anything with a self-shifting gearbox that isn't a land yacht or incapable of dealing with motorways will be of interest, the closer to Leicester the better to save costs running about looking at cars. I did mention the Volvo 440 but there was uncertainty, now it's gone so that's that sorted!

Mutha Sporty is looking for something smaller to replace the Golf, so that may be available. Mk3 1.8 CL, dragon green, PAS, 4x elec windows, C/L, about 10 months test, but unfortunately, a big scrape on the front bumper. Not cracked or anything, but would need paint to make it look decent again. I can ask about price if you like, but would have to find something to replace it before it goes.

Golf would fit the bill nicely, the predecessor for the A-class was a Mk IV Golf. Mk 3 autobox is a simpler one, I think - the Mk IV went through two boxes in 80K miles.

And now acquired - Jen is the proud owner of a 1998 Saab 9-3 2.0 SE Auto!

I may be interested depending on how skint I am and what location matey.
