Rover Metro, What to do?

Unfortunately the three door was too far gone to do anything with, this one isn’t necessarily that bad apart from the sills and floors where the sills attach. Thanks for the clarification OBND.

An eBay and a Google search shows inner sills and outer skins are available, but I think I knew that really.

I’m really looking for some insight as to how much work is involved.

The composition of that second shot is wonderful. Great work my friend.

Thanks but credit goes to one of my passengers at the time, this was in the days before smartphones but he had a digital camera we all thought was very fancy

The welding repairs are straightforward, main problem will be if it needs any repairs around the rear sub frame front mounting points.

I think I did the passenger side one, which required the sub frame to be dropped to gain access.

This will require the car to be jacked up about three foot at the back, removing all fastening bolts and all the plastic clips that hold the suspension pipes in place as far forward to the hand brake.

This allows the sub frame to be dropped without disconnecting the hydraulics and brake pipes.

I would also recommend removing the fuel tank as apart from the fire risk there is also a brake pipe which is located at the back of the tank which may need replacing or de-rusting.

All of this was done when I repaired it and I oiled all the fasteners when it was reassembled.

Finally completely remove any of the original paint at least two inch's back from any new welding area, as the fumes are deadly.

I have some photo's of the repair work on my old computer, if I can find it I'll post them. That may take a while though as its somewhere amongst all my junk in my attic.
