Ally pipe replacement with bendiness

The Vitesse has an aircon pipe which is knacked. The replacement pipe I got for it is also knacked.

Seeing as I now have a spare pipe sitting around, albeit one which is knacked, I figured I could go about getting one made up which is notknacked.

I suspect that part of the problem is that the pipe takes a convoluted route, some of the bends are quite fragile and that the fitting of the pipe can lead to fracturing as a result of putting stresses on it while maneuvering it behind the headlight, over an inner wing etc. As a result, I'd like to get the majority of the pipe replaced with flexible hose - has anyone got an experience of this? I basically just want a company who can take the pipe, chop off the fittings and replace the (roughly) half a meter of 8mm aluminium pipe in between with flexible high pressure hose.

DOES THIS EXIST OR IS IT JUST IN MY HEAD?

I'm unwilling to keep replacing the pipe, mainly because the only way of testing my hard work is to fill it with £30 worth of air con gas and then watch a load of green dye leaking expensively into the air. This is also the reason I'm reluctant (but open to being persuaded) to get the pipe ally welded - in case it happens again when re-fitting.

No personal experience, but everywhere I have worked recently uses this firm for flexible hydraulic pipes, made up on site as required.

Super - thanks. Have heard the name bandied about, so if nothing else they should be able to tell me if I'm dreaming or not. I could also chase up some local places if hydraulic hose is the way forward.

Any - and I do mean any - air condition service company can do that. Since you have to get the system filled by such a company anyway (andy attempt to do this yourself will inevitably lead to failure, unless you have the proper equipment), you may consider having them make and install the pipe, then fill the system.

Pirtek have always been extremely helpful in my experience. Even custom made stuff.

Speak on, Junkman - speak on. Any recommendations from your neck of the woods? I'm in Reddish or Heaviley at least 3 times a week.

HI, A/C hose is different to hydraulic hose, A/C hose is PTFE lined. Try an air conditioning company that does plant or PSV work because none of that stuff is off the shelf and so they will be used to making hoses up on site. Any leaks or weaknesses should show up when they pull the vacuum on it or give it a shot of Nitrogen to test for leaks. Crimping the hose ferrules is the same as hydraulic, but the fittings are different.

I still haven't done this, because real life and son, but the air con would come in really handy with the regular misting all this dampness is causing. I think I'm going to make it my Christmas present to myself. Will supply pics when appropriate.
