NA diesels make you a better driver imho. Turbos spoil you and make you lazy. See: VAG TDI brigade.

I get to drive various Skoda Fabia's at work and prefer the 1.9D over the turbocharged 1.4TDi. The 3 pot 1.4 just seems to rev up but not go anywhere.

I did a few miles in a 1.9D on Friday and would happily have driven the thing all day.

This wasn't anywhere near Battleflat was it? I've just come up the A511 to head shopping, past two fellas poking over an identical car like it was in the midst of a purchase.

No it was in Loughborough, Leics.

I collected the car this evening. I'll do a separate thread when I get a minute. The car drove well and I'm chuffed with it. It doesn't feel it's age, rowed along nicely, the suspension was a bit rolly reminding me of my old 2cv but that's coming from my Alfa which has minimal suspension travel. Nice spacious interior, superlight steering, looking forward to getting it on the road. That may be a few months off as I have to tow my caravan to the New Forest in Aug and that might be asking too much of it 4 up with lots of luggage! Might keep the Alfa till after the holiday.

Aaah, Battleflat is just as you come out of Loughborough towards the M1 at J22. I thought it was close enough that you might have just "rounded up" the location to the nearest big place, it's not often you see a burgundy Mk3 Astra Estate being looked over!

Oh right, very near there then but it was a different time of day. That's a weird coincidence! I've been looking for others for sale and I couldn't find any other diesel estates around at all.
