forddeliveryboy Posted November 8, 2014 Author Posted November 8, 2014 Progress* is: and All that wasted space in the top half of the headlamp units for indicators, when it could be used for a decently-size reflector. And what's with the massive badges on the front of modern PSAs? It's like they're shouting at you. Lacquer Peel, DSdriver, brickwall and 2 others 5
brickwall Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 ANd Renault too. The diamond seems massive on some models.
DSdriver Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 Are those C5 units going yellowy/cloudy because they're polycarbonate? You would've thought that they would have learned what a crap idea that was using it for the rear quarterlights on the BX.
406V6 Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 The worst headlights on any car I've had were on a Calibra. The headlights on my 406 were reasonable to start with and pretty decent when I put Osram Nightbreakers in.
Bobthebeard Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 Good to hear that is isn't only me that finds modern headlights/tail lights blinding. Ok, I am officially old, but nice to hear that younger folk also find them offensive! Lighting the road ahead is laudable, but damaging the eyes of everyone else is not. It isn't a competition FFS! The unit is enormous and they are bright but the beam pattern is awful so you struggle to see where you are going.
myglaren Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 I'm convinced that the headlights on my GS were the best lights I have experienced. I was going to put Osram Nightbreakers in the C5 but read somewhere that Philips Xtreme Vision were superior due to more accurate filament placement so opted for them instead. There did seem to be an improvement but that may be down to wishful thinking. I went up to Alnwick one night, ostensibly to watch the Aurora Borealis, but it stayed at home that night. However, navigating those pitch dark country roads was a doddle. It is only in urban areas with all the light pollution and in the face of oncoming traffic that the headlights appear to be wanting.
saucedoctor Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 Headlights on my X type are reasonable, but I can't see out of it on a wet night - my eyes just focus on the tiny elements for the heated screen. The first time I noticed it I was fortunately not far from home, and got back by driving at about 10MPH. Car manufacturers need to make headlamp bulbs easier to change for the average motorist. The amount of cars you see these days with a lamp not working, or worse, a bulb fucking wobbling around behind you.
DSdriver Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 I've had a Maigret Big 15, loads of DS, a couple of CX and now an XM.I think I'm going to stop there.
